Un fin de semana magico / A magical weekend

Bueno, hace algun tiempo mi cunada Paty quien vive en Yuma, invito a Erik a que hiciera una presentacion de magia en la nueva biblioteca del condado de Yuma. Erik se preparo y su presentacion fue el Sabado, Octubre 24 a las 3 p.m. Erik habia estado bastante nervioso, pero cuando llego el dia, se sentia con confianza de hacer un buen trabajo en su show. Mi sobrino Diego fue su asistente y juntos, divirtieron a los ninos de Yuma por un rato. / Okay, some time ago my sister-in-law Paty who lives in Yuma, invited Erik to do a magic show in the new Yuma County Library. Erik got prepared and the show took place on Saturday, October 24th at 3 p.m. Erick had been very nervous but when the day came, he felt he would do a good job. My nephew Diego was his assistant and together, they entertained the kids in Yuma.
Unos minutos antes de empezar el show, Erik parecia tan fresco como una lechuga, mientras que yo estaba mas nerviosa esperando que todo le saliera bien. / Just minutes before Erik began his show, he looked cool as a cucumber and I was the one very nervous hoping everything would be all right.

Todo salio mejor de lo que esperabamos. La asistencia fue bastante grande ya que llegaron mas de 60 personas y realmente no sabiamos cuantas personas iban a estar ahi. Todos los ninos se veian contentos ya que Erik para cada truco pedia un voluntario y pues hubo mucho participacion por parte del publico. Al ultimo, algunos adultos se acercaron a Erik para darle las gracias y felicitarlo, y varios ninos querian saludarlo y conocerlo en persona. De hecho, el encargado de la biblioteca habia puesto varios libros de magia en una mesa de lado ya que Erik menciono que el sacaba libros de la biblioteca para aprender nuevos trucos; cuando el show termino, varios ninos se llevaron los libros que estaban ahi porque se sintieron inspirados a aprender magia ellos tambien. Realmente me senti muy orgullosa de Erik y su gran talento que tiene. El ver que de ser un nino timido ahora ya puede pararse enfrente de las personas y entretenerlas con su magia por determinado tiempo, me hace sentir feliz y con confianza de que con constancia y determinacion, su potencial es ilimitado. Son esta clase de momentos los que me hacen darme cuenta que la felicidad de ser madre puede venir en momentos grandes o pequenos, pero hay que abrir bien los ojos para poderlos MIRAR y ATESORAR. Fue un SHOW ESPECTACULAR! SIGUE ADELANTE ERIK! / Everything turned out better than expected. There were more than 60 people who attended this show and to be honest, we had no idea how many would show up. All the kids were happy since Erik asked for a volunteer (s) for every single magic trick so there was a lot of audience participation. At the end of the show, some adults came to greet and congratulate Erik, and several kids came to shake his hand and meet him. In fact, the man in charge of the Youth Dept. had set up a table on the side wall with several magic books because Erik mentioned that he would learn new tricks checking library books out; when the show ended several kids took those books on display home. I guess they felt inspired to learn magic themselves. I am really proud of Erik and the great talent he has. Knowing that he was such a timid boy and now he can stand in front of a crowd and entertain them for some time, makes me feel happy and I know that with effort and determination, his potential is unlimited. It is this type of moments that make me realize that the joys of Motherhood can come in big or small packages, but we need to have our eyes wide open to SEE them and TREASURE them... That was a GREAT SHOW! GO ERIK!

Hace unas semanas fui al Deseret Industries para ver que cosas tenian y me encontre este vagoncito de madera que me encanto desde que lo vi. Es totalmente de madera, incluyendo las llantas y se mira muy coqueto. Creo que por cuatro dolares me puedo dar ese gusto no creen?

I went to Deseret Industries a few weeks ago just to browse the store a little bit and I found this beautiful wagon that caught my attention immediately. It's completely made of wood, even the wheels and it looks SO cute. I think for only four dollars I deserve a little luxury don't you think?

Mi nueva casa / My new house

Como ya muchos saben, desde Junio nos regresamos a vivir a Mesa. Esta es nuestra nueva casa. La verdad es que esta chiquita, pero tiene algo que nos hace sentir muy comodos y agusto. Los ninos estan apretaditos en dos recamaras pero todos estamos felices de estar de regreso en Mesa... / As many of you already know, we moved back to Mesa last June. This is our new house. It is smaller than our last house, but there is something about it that makes us feel really comfortable and cozy. The kids are all nice and tight in the two bedrooms but that's okay because we are all just happy to be back in Mesa...

No soy muy buena para poner las fotos y comentarios, y pues no se por que aparecen tantos espacios entre cada foto y comentario, pero bueno espero que no se enfaden de ver tantos espacios en blanco. / I am not very good at posting pictures and comments, and I don't know why there are so many blank spaces in between. Well I hope you don't get tired of seeing all these spaces in between pictures.

Campamento de la Rama Escondido / The Escondido Branch Camp Out

Bueno, este fin de semana pasado tuvimos nuestro primer campamento como rama y fue totalmente divertido. Fuimos a un campamento que se llama Camp Wildernes y esta en Show Low. Habia muchas cabanas para escoger, y la primera noche la pasamos en la mas grande junto con otras dos familias de amigos, y aunque estaba super comoda (tenia 2 recamaras, cocina, bano, sala y hasta un atico) no pudimos prender la calefaccion y pasamos muchismo frio en la noche (38 grados) y pues al otro dia buscamos otra cabana que si tuviera calefaccion. Este campamento tenia de todo: muchas cabanas, una cocina tipo industrial, comedor cerrado, comedor al aire libre, lugar para la fogata, canchas de volleyball, beisbol, basquetbol, una carpa grande con tarima para hacer eventos al aire libre, banos con regaderas, agua caliente, lavadora y secadora, en fin, todos nos quedamos impresionadisimos por todas las conveniencias que habia en ese lugar, aparte de ser hermoso y rodeado de pinos y montanas. Nosotros nos fuimos desde el Jueves y pues estuvimos hasta el Sabado. Esos dias se quedaron atras las preocupaciones, estres y todo lo negativo. No cabe duda de que la vida es mas relajada en las montanas.

This past weekend we had our first camp out as a branch and it was totally fun. We went to this place in Show Low called Camp Wilderness. There were lots of cabins to choose from and we spent the first night in the biggest one, sharing it with two more families who are our friends. The cabin was very comfortable (it had 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bathroom and even an attic) we couldn't make the heater work and so that first night we were very, very, very cold (38 degrees). Needless to say, I decided the next morning to look for another cabin with a working heater. This camp had just about everything : lots of cabins, an industrial kitchen, an indoor dining room, an outdoor dining room, a fire pit, volleyball, baseball and basketball courts, a big tent with a wooden stage for any outdoor event, bathrooms and showers, hot water, washer and dryer... I mean, we were all impressed by all the ammenities this place had, not counting the beautiful setting surrounded by pine trees and mountains. We got there on Thursday and stayed until Saturday. Those days I left behind all worries, stress, and anything negative. I truly believe life is much more relaxed in the mountains.

Despues de pasar tres dias y dos noches en las montanas, Emmita estaba super cansada y lista para regresar a casa. / After three days and two nights in the mountains, Emmita was exhausted and ready to go back home.

Esa sonrisa de Pedrito me hace pensar en que cuando tenga 16 anos ya va a poder manejar sin ir sentado sobre su papa, que preocupacion!

Looking at Pedrito's smile makes me think that when he is sixteen, he'll be able to drive without sitting on daddy's lap, I am so worried!

Creo que nunca antes habia jugado tanto volleyball hasta este campamento, pero la verdad estuvo super divertido y todo esto nos ayudo a convivir y relajarnos.

I don't believe I had played so much volleyball before this encampment, but the truth is we had a lot of fun and it helped us to relax and visit with each other.

Un dia despues de la Conferencia General / One day after General Conference

Wow, fue un fin de semana lleno de inspiracion y tambien de muchos buenos consejos. Usualmente nos gusta mirar la conferencia desde la comodidad de nuestro hogar y eso fue lo que hicimos, excepto el Domingo, que Pedro tuvo que ir a la Estaca durante la primera sesion para llevar a un hermano investigador. El sabado fue muy especial porque senti mucha paz al escuchar a nuestros lideres y senti como el Espiritu Santo me daba testimonio de sus palabras. En la tarde, Erik no tenia muchas ganas de ir a la sesion del sacerdocio y pues se fue con un poco de mal humor. No regresaron a la casa hasta casi las 9 p.m. porque dicen que les gusto tanto todo lo que hablaron ( entre los temas estaba "el enojo", que sintieron ganas de irse al centro de visitantes del Templo y miraron la pelicula sobre la vida de Jose Smith. Pude ver a Erik con un semblante muy diferente, y realmente feliz de haber podido escuchar al Profeta y autoridades generales. Me siento muy feliz de tener el evangelio en mi vida y en la de mi familia. Yo se que el Senor quiere darnos todas las herramientas que necesitamos para mantenernos a salvo en este mundo y que nos ayudaran a regresar con El algun dia. Pero si no hacemos uso de ellas, nunca podremos sentir la diferencia en nuestras vidas.

Wow, it was a weekend full of inspiration and good advice. We usually like to watch General Conference from the coziness of our living room and that's exactly what we did, except on Sunday, Pedro had to go to the Stake center during the first session because he took an investigator who needed to hear the G.C. in Spanish. Saturday was very special because I could feel so much peace in my heart as a listened to our leaders speak to us and also felt the Holy Ghost giving me testimony of their words. In the evening, for the priesthood session, Erik was a little mad at us because he did not want to go. Well, we told him he had to go and it was almost 9 p.m. when Pedro and Erik finally came back. Erik had a totally different attitude and was very happy. He told me how he and his father felt so inspired after the priesthood session that they ended up going to the visitors center at the temple and watching the Joseph Smith movie.
I feel very thankful that I have the gospel in my life and share it with my kids. I know the Lord gives us all the tools to keep us safe in this world and to allow us return to Him someday. But if we don't use these tools then we'll never see the difference in our lives.
